L'albero di Natale da record

Alto 22 metri e decorato con 518.838 luci led, è entrato di diritto nel Guinness dei primati. Si trova nel centro di Canberra ed è stato realizzato per scopo benefico.

Incuranti di chi sostiene che le lucine natalizie possono rallentare il Wi-Fi, in Australia hanno realizzato un albero di Natale artificiale con un'illuminazione da record. L'abete allestito nel centro di Canberra è stato addobbato con 518.838 led, entrando ufficialmente nel Guinness World Records, il libro dei primati.

PER UNA BUONA CAUSA. Il progetto ha coinvolto una squadra di architetti e ingegneri che sotto la guida dell'avvocato australiano David Richards ha messo in piedi un gigante sintetico di 22 metri, sulla cui cima è stata posizionata una stella versione extra large, alta circa un metro e mezzo. ll precedente record apparteneva allo Universal Studios Japan di Osaka, che per cinque anni consecutivi ha riempito il proprio albero con 364.200 lampadine (quest'anno 374.280).

Lo scopo dell'iniziativa è di raccogliere fondi per un'associazione impegnata nella lotta alla sindrome della morte improvvisa del lattante(Sids), nota anche come morte in culla.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS MAN. Richards non è nuovo ai primati natalizi: nel 2013 aveva infatti decorato la propria abitazioni con 500mila lampadine, entrando anche in quel caso nel libro dei Guinness.

No-one was injured in the explosion but the reception area was extensively damaged A masked man has thrown what police have described as a "firebomb" into the reception area of a Londonderry hotel. Costruito sul modello dell'uomo, si muove con grande libertà e può valutare situazioni critiche. Valkyrie, il robot della Nasa. Thailand army continues crackdown after coup

Thailand's military has ordered 35 more people, including prominent academics, to report to them by Saturday afternoon as the post-coup crackdown continues. The move comes a day after the army ordered more than 100 politicians, including ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra, to come to the military council. Ms Yingluck was detained in Bangkok on Friday and spent the night in custody. Many on the army's latest list have previously been charged with speaking or acting against the monarchy. Meanwhile, several hundred protesters have taken to the streets of Bangkok to show their anger at military's seizure of power, defying a ban on large gatherings. Anti-coup banners were unfurled as they arrived at Victory Monument. Officials said the former prime minister would not be held for more than a week but insisted that her detention was necessary while matters in the country were "organised".
