Salire sull'Etna con Street View

Il trekker di Google ha mappato il vulcano siciliano. Ora è possibile percorrerlo fino alla sommità del cratere, ammirando il panorama fra i fumi.

Google Street View continua a mappare gli angoli più remoti della terra. Da oggi sulle pagine di Google Maps è possibile anche esplorare il monte Etna, risalendolo fino al cratere.

TREKKING CON I TREKKER. L'Etna è stato inserito il 21 giugno 2013 fra i patrimoni Unesco, così Google ha voluto celebrare i due anni dall'evento inserendolo in Street View, per farcelo percorrere virtualmente metro dopo metro.

Seguendo i sentieri si possono risalire le pendici fino alla sommità del cratere Centrale e dei Crateri Silvestri, ammirando gli scenari resi ancora più suggestivi dal fumo che en esce. Le immagini del vulcano siciliano sono state raccolte grazie al Trekker, lo zaino tecnologico equipaggiato con 15 fotocamere che scattano immagini ad alta risoluzione per comporre una panoramica a 360° in orizzontale e a 280° in verticale.



MOSTRA DIGITALE. Oceani, deserti sul dorso di cammello,  foresta amazzonica e foresta africana in mezzo agli scimpanzè: ogni angolo del mondo viene passato in rassegna dai macchinari di Street View, non solo per farci vedere panorami inediti ma anche per tutelare l’eredità culturale e storica dei territori.

Quanto all'Etna, l'azienda americana ha collaborato anche con Unioncamere e Camera di Commercio di Catania per dare vita alla mostra digitale Basalto Lavico dell’Etna che, ospitata sulla piattaforma del Google Cultural Institute, racconta curiosità legate a questo materiale e alla storia della regione.

Thailand army continues crackdown after coup

Thailand's military has ordered 35 more people, including prominent academics, to report to them by Saturday afternoon as the post-coup crackdown continues. The move comes a day after the army ordered more than 100 politicians, including ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra, to come to the military council. Ms Yingluck was detained in Bangkok on Friday and spent the night in custody. Many on the army's latest list have previously been charged with speaking or acting against the monarchy. Meanwhile, several hundred protesters have taken to the streets of Bangkok to show their anger at military's seizure of power, defying a ban on large gatherings. Anti-coup banners were unfurled as they arrived at Victory Monument. Officials said the former prime minister would not be held for more than a week but insisted that her detention was necessary while matters in the country were "organised".
