Per la Polizia Stradale Waze aiuterebbe i criminali a fuggire

Edward Mullins, capo della Sergeants Benevolent Association, ha formalmente inviato una lettera all'amministratore delegato di Google, Larry Page, per chiedere al gigante del web di disabilitare una funzione inclusa in Waze che consente agli utenti di tenere traccia delle attività di polizia in tempo reale. Tutti coloro che utilizzano il navigatore sociale di Big G, infatti, sono a conoscenza della feature che è in grado di localizzare i posti di blocco, incidenti, traffico e telecamere presenti sulle strade.
Secondo Mullins “la tecnologia di Waze, che consente di pubblicare e diffondere informazioni in tempo reale, e che è in grado identificare le attività di polizia, può essere utilizzata sia per scopi buoni che cattivi”. Lo stesso ha anche minacciato un'azione legale contro la società di Mountain View ed ha chiesto un incontro con i funzionari di Google entro i prossimi dieci giorni.
Mullins, in un'intervista telefonica, ha sottolineato che l'assassino Ismaaiyl Brinsley aveva l'applicazione sul suo telefono lo scorso 20 Dicembre, quando ha ucciso due poliziotti. “Non so se stava per utilizzare l'applicazione o se l'aveva già fatto, non voglio calunniare Google, ma si tratta di uno strumento importante per conoscere ciò che succede fuori”.

Thailand army continues crackdown after coup

Thailand's military has ordered 35 more people, including prominent academics, to report to them by Saturday afternoon as the post-coup crackdown continues. The move comes a day after the army ordered more than 100 politicians, including ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra, to come to the military council. Ms Yingluck was detained in Bangkok on Friday and spent the night in custody. Many on the army's latest list have previously been charged with speaking or acting against the monarchy. Meanwhile, several hundred protesters have taken to the streets of Bangkok to show their anger at military's seizure of power, defying a ban on large gatherings.
