Orecchio cadente: meno reattivo ma più protetto.
I cani con le orecchie cadenti hanno maggiori difficoltà a individuare la provenienza e la direzione precisa dei suoni rispetto a quelli con le orecchie erette. Un pastore, perciò, il cui compito è quello di vigilare sul gregge, capta le onde sonore con maggiore efficienza di un segugio, che si affida soprattutto all’olfatto per seguire la pista e localizzare la selvaggina. E infatti i primi hanno le orecchie dritte, i secondi cascanti.

PROTEZIONE. L’orecchio cadente protegge però il canale uditivo dei cani da caccia dall’ingresso accidentale di spighe o spine che potrebbero danneggiarlo.

Il taglio delle orecchie per renderle erette è ormai vietato in diversi Paesi, e in Italia dal 2011.

Londonderry explosion: 'Firebomb' explodes in Everglades Hotel

Thailand army continues crackdown after coup

Thailand's military has ordered 35 more people, including prominent academics, to report to them by Saturday afternoon as the post-coup crackdown continues. The move comes a day after the army ordered more than 100 politicians, including ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra, to come to the military council. Ms Yingluck was detained in Bangkok on Friday and spent the night in custody. Many on the army's latest list have previously been charged with speaking or acting against the monarchy. Meanwhile, several hundred protesters have taken to the streets of Bangkok to show their anger at military's seizure of power, defying a ban on large gatherings. Anti-coup banners were unfurled as they arrived at Victory Monument. Officials said the former prime minister would not be held for more than a week but insisted that her detention was necessary while matters in the country were "organised".
