Un nuovo dispositivo per prelevare il sangue senza bisogno di aghi

Sicuramente c’è qualcuno tra voi lettori che non ama gli aghi. Ci sono persone per cui il prelievo del sangue non è un'esperienza piacevole, che può causare persino la perdita di coscienza, soprattutto quando il processo è fatto da mani non troppo esperte. Sembra però finalmente arrivato un dispositivo che risolve completamente questi problemi. Una società finanziata dalla DARPA ha creato un nuovo prodotto che può prendere il sangue dal paziente senza l'utilizzo di nessun ago.
Sembra impossibile ma in realtà esiste davvero. Infatti, utilizzando una pompetta che crea il vuoto, questo dispositivo è in grado di “succhiare” il sangue attraverso capillari microscopici che si trovano sulla superficie della pelle. Il device per ora può estrarre solo 0.15 cm cubici di sangue, abbastanza comunque per essere utilizzato nella maggior parte delle analisi. Un’altra cosa positiva di questo gadget è che può mantenere il sangue estratto per più di dieci giorni e può ospitare diversi campioni contemporaneamente, senza rischiare alcun problema di deterioramento. Il prodotto andrà sul mercato nel 2016 e aiuterà molte persone che vogliono evitare gli aghi, ma che hanno bisogno di fare regolari esami a causa dei loro problemi di salute.

Thailand army continues crackdown after coup

Thailand's military has ordered 35 more people, including prominent academics, to report to them by Saturday afternoon as the post-coup crackdown continues. The move comes a day after the army ordered more than 100 politicians, including ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra, to come to the military council. Ms Yingluck was detained in Bangkok on Friday and spent the night in custody. Many on the army's latest list have previously been charged with speaking or acting against the monarchy. Meanwhile, several hundred protesters have taken to the streets of Bangkok to show their anger at military's seizure of power, defying a ban on large gatherings.
