Il neonato Fondo Forestale Italiano combatte i cambiamenti climatici comprando terreni su cui lasciare crescere foreste.

Una roverella nel futuro bosco del Fondo Forestale italiano

I metodi per combattere i cambiamenti climatici passano anche dalla protezione della vegetazione esistente: la crescita degli alberi avviene assorbendo anidride carbonica, e questo ci è di aiuto per cercare di contenere l'innalzamento della temperatura globale media.

Un'associazione appena costituita, il Fondo Forestale italiano, si è data un obiettivo ambizioso: acquistare terreni (o riceverli in dono) per consentire alla vegetazione naturale di ricostruirsi e vivere fino a diventare una vera foresta. Il Fondo si avvale della consulenza di un comitato scientifico composto da docenti, ricercatori e professionisti nel campo delle scienze forestali, delle scienze naturali e della biologia.

IL PRIMO BOSCO. Dopo la donazione di un piccolo terreno vicino a Viterbo, il Fondo ha lanciato una campagna di crowdfunding per acquistare un’area di circa 15 ettari nel Comune di Scheggino, in provincia di Perugia, in Umbria. La futura riserva naturale è inserita in un contesto di particolare valore ambientale: la Val Nerina, nota per le Cascate delle Marmore e per i tartufi. Il territorio è stato dichiarato Sito di Interesse Comunitario dall’Unione Europea per le sue caratteristiche ambientali ed è sede del Parco Fluviale del Fiume Nera.

No-one was injured in the explosion but the reception area was extensively damaged A masked man has thrown what police have described as a "firebomb" into the reception area of a Londonderry hotel. The Everglades Hotel, in the Prehen area of the city, was evacuated after the device was reported at 23:15 BST on Thursday. Costruito sul modello dell'uomo, si muove con grande libertà e può valutare situazioni critiche. Valkyrie, il robot della Nasa. Thailand army continues crackdown after coup

Thailand's military has ordered 35 more people, including prominent academics, to report to them by Saturday afternoon as the post-coup crackdown continues. The move comes a day after the army ordered more than 100 politicians, including ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra, to come to the military council. Ms Yingluck was detained in Bangkok on Friday and spent the night in custody. Many on the army's latest list have previously been charged with speaking or acting against the monarchy. Meanwhile, several hundred protesters have taken to the streets of Bangkok to show their anger at military's seizure of power, defying a ban on large gatherings. Anti-coup banners were unfurled as they arrived at Victory Monument. Officials said the former prime minister would not be held for more than a week but insisted that her detention was necessary while matters in the country were "organised".
